Sterling Silver Gold Plated St Brigid's Cross

I recently bought this ‘Sterling Silver Gold Plate St. Bridget’s Cross’ by Shonore Irish/Celtic Jewellery. I had been searching online for some time for a beautiful St. Bridget’s Cross by Newbridge Silver, which alas only seems to be available in a small size now – whilst still very beautiful, it was smaller than the one I wanted. So I continued my search & I was delighted when I found the St. Bridget’s Cross on the Veritas Online Store as the picture depicted a beautifully crafted piece in sterling silver & gold plate. However, I should have paid better attention to the measurements detailed in the description as the picture is quite deceiving in that the piece appears a lot larger than it is in reality.

This is indeed a beautiful piece of jewellery, however, I have to admit that I was disappointed upon receipt of it. It’s very small & it is what I would consider ‘child-sized’. It would make a beautiful gift for example for a child or for a girl on her Confirmation Day. I would have preferred if it was twice the size that it is, as I bought it with the intention of wearing it as both a piece of fashionable jewellery & as a symbol of my faith, & in particular a symbol of my devotion to St. Brigid. I replaced the chain supplied with the pendant as I felt that the chain supplied was too short & delicate for me (prone to breaking with daily wear & only 18” in length), to a Tuscany Silver: Sterling Silver Belcher Chain Necklace (22” long) at the cost of €38 which is considerably stronger & that bit longer… which meant that in order to make the piece wearable for me on a day-to-day basis it ended up costing me €102.95 as opposed to €64.95. I do recommend this beautiful piece of jewellery, however, take note of the measurements given prior to purchase to ensure that you are happy to proceed with such a small cross size; again, I’d highly recommend it as a gift for an older child or teenager or somebody who likes understated pieces of jewellery, purely due to th
