Meditating on the Mysteries of Salvation
Extent: Paperback
Pages: 80
Publisher: Veritas Publications
"…in vain do I strive to meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary; I am unable to fix my attention. For a long time, I was sad because of this lack of devotion which surprised me, for I love the Blessed Virgin so much that it should be easy for me to say in her honor prayers which please her so much. Now, it saddens me less; I think that the Queen of Heaven being my Mother, she must see my good will and be content with it. Some may be surprised to learn that this quote emanates from St Thérèse of Lisieux who showed clear sympathy for those who struggle with praying the Rosary. In this Rosary Guide Fr Frank Drescher brings his skills in spiritual direction to bear in providing an extensive and joyful guide to praying the Rosary. It includes the basic prayers and traditional mysteries but also provides new topics for meditation on the Rosary from the author’s own German tradition. St Thérèse would have appreciated this help in her Rosary strivings.”

Customer Reviews
This is an excellent book, providing all the standard Rosaries, but also several others incorporating different mysteries and events from the lives of Our Lord and Our Lady. Each Rosary has a verse of Scripture for each ‘Hail Mary’; this is so helpful and makes it much easier to maintain the inner meditation on that Mystery, and avoid the trap of simply chanting the words, forgetful of the Mystery being prayed. I had previously found it difficult to pray the Rosary, but this book really brings it to life for me. Thank you, Fr. Drescher!

Description
This book is a practical and spiritual guidebook to the Holy Rosary, which not only examines the meaning of its mysteries, but also creates awareness that the Rosary is a prayer deeply rooted in sacred scripture.
Meditating on the Mysteries of Salvation provides an extensive and joyful guide to praying the Rosary. It includes the basic prayers and the traditional sets of mysteries, but also goes beyond that by providing new topics for meditation on the Rosary, which either come from the German tradition or have been newly developed by the author. These include in particular the Consoling, the Miraculous and the Merciful Mysteries.
The way of praying the Rosary presented in this book is rich in variety and offers, in a special way, what the famous theologian Romano Guardini called a ‘participation in the life of Mary, whose focus was Christ’.
