About the Book:
Lady Jane Wilde (née Elgee) wrote Ancient Legends, Mystic Charms and Superstitions of Ireland, first published in 1887 and Ancient Cures, Charms, and Usages of Ireland in 1890.

With a preface by Martin Burns, this extraordinary collection highlights the dark, bizarre and unique fairy tales researched and collected during the 1840s and 1850s. It is aimed at readers aged 10+ but will appeal to adults and anyone interested in folklore.
About the Authors:
Martin Burns is a journalist and writer, and the creative director at Oscar Wilde House in Dublin. Originally from Belfast, Martin spent many years working in London’s Fleet Street before returning to Ireland. He gives regular talks about the Wilde family at Oscar Wilde House where he also runs tours and cultural events.
Helena Grimes is an Irish artist and illustrator based in Limerick, originally from Longford. Her work has been exhibited in various locations nationally and internationally and has been purchased for several private collections in Ireland, the UK and the USA, as well as municipal art collections. In 2020 she illustrated Thinking Star, a children’s book by Anna Callaly.
