This book is unique in that it quotes extensively from the Church Fathers, saints, and popes both to tell Pauls life story and to develop the key themes of his letters. The well-crafted questions for reflection at the end of each of forty devotions touch the heart with Pauls message and lead to life-changing decisions."

Pope Benedict XVI has declared July 2008 through June 2009 "The Year of St. Paul," and in recognition, Paraclete Press commissioned this very accessible introduction to the life and spirituality of St. Paul, the ever-controversial apostle who, having failed to meet his Savior in his lifetime, deployed the rhetoric of a professional prosecutor in devising a theology around him for young churches. Celano, an editor at Paraclete, has written a brief and straightforward account of Pauls life, directing readers reflections on themes from the apostles life and letters. While Celanos introduction in no ways reflects current biblical or late Classical scholarship, the clarity of his approach should appeal to a wide readership.
