  • Performed by: Canon Sydney MacEwan with the Trinity Chorale under the direction of George Mitchell. Orchestra conducted by Philip Green.

In 1971, English conductor of world renown, Philip Green, composed, produced and recorded a Mass of new brilliance, beauty and solemnity. Featuring a stiring vocal contribution by Canon Sydney MacEwan, the magnificently crafted composition became massively popular following the national broadcast of a live performance from Corks Franciscan church simultaneously on radio and television across Ireland opening the 16th Cork Film Festival. St Patricks Mass features the famed Trinity Chorale under direction of George Mitchell and members of Londons leading orchestras. Fr. MacEwan has sold over three million recordings and is known to music lovers throughout the world. Philip Green was, in 1971, a recent convert to the Catholic faith. This Mass was a personal tribute of thanksgiving not only to the church, but to Ireland, a country he had loved since his youth. He has written over 250 film soundtracks for major pictures. Philip passed away in Dublin in 1982.
