This book contains forty ready-to-use prayer assemblies based on themes from the academic and liturgical year. It can be used by principals, teachers, school chaplains or parish workers who visit schools or classrooms. Combining ease of use with creative ideas for prayer, this book also comes with a CD of music to match each of the assemblies.

As a First Communion teacher and music coordinator, I am always looking for new ideas and resources to help enhance prayer and worship in our school. I have found this book of prayer assemblies invaluable in planning for the liturgical seasons, feast days and other events associated with the life of the school. It is clearly divided into Terms 1, 2 and 3 and contains helpful backgrounds to the various feasts and seasons. It includes a prayer section at the back with prayers which children will learn throughout their years in primary school. It offers music suggestions and has an accompanying CD with these songs. Among the assembly themes are: the beginning of the school year, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and the end of the school year. Plentiful and relevant suggestions for the creation of Sacred Space both in classrooms and in school are offered. Shorter prayers for staff meetings and board of governor meetings are also included.
This book can be used and adapted to suit any primary class and used in association with the other Religious programme followed in the school. The layout and structure are excellent. Each assembly is clearly set out and includes 'narrator parts', 'things you will need', 'ideas for a Sacred Space', songs and Scripture readings. Helpful worksheets are also included and they are very child friendly. This resource has saved me hours of gathering and sourcing suitable material. I would highly recommend it to other teachers and music co-ordinators.
