  • Forty Masses with Young People presents Masses suitable for young people in the 16-25 years of age and older. Masses for some feasts of the liturgical year are included, along with Masses on themes which are of immediate interest and concern to the young people.

These Masses take into account the spiritual development and interest of the 16-25 age group, and are composed for use in schools, youth groups, and at times when a priest or teacher may want to give a group some help in preparing a liturgy. Like most youth resources, they may be used also with older age groups. This book is best used by priests, teachers and young people together. They may select a theme themselves, or may even pick and choose between readings from different themes. Like any liturgical book, it may be adapted to the age and the level of understanding of the group. The book is for the people, not the people for the book.

Donal Neary SJ is the author of several successful books, including seasonal reflections for Lent and Advent, as well as books for young people. He is parish priest at the church of St Francis Xavier, Gardiner St, Dublin, while his previous work was in youth retreats at Mater Dei Institute of Education and in Tabor House, Dublin and as teacher in Belvedere College. He was vocations director for the Jesuits from 1982-1988. He was born in Dublin in 1945.
