St Damien de Veuster - Apostle to the lepers.
Aged 33, Fr Damien de Veuster left his mission parish to work among the lepers of Hawaii. He died there of leprosy aged only 49. Like Christ himself, he became rejected for the rejected, a leper for the lepers: something rare in a world that wants to eliminate suffering. The author has updated and revised the text in light of Damiens canonization by Pope Benedict XVI in 2009.
Author Glynn MacNiven-Johnston studied theology and taught English in various Islamic countries for many years. She has worked in Catholic publishing for over a decade.
