Charles G. Vella was born in Malta in 1928. Between 1948 and 1955 he studied Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Venerable English College. In 1962 he trained in Communications with the BBC in London and took charge of the running of Maltese Radio and Television stations, a post he held until 1975. In 1986 he was asked to take over responsibility for the Public Relations Office of the Milan San Raffaele HospitalÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Scientific Institute. Since 1988 he has been a member of the Milan European Oncological InstituteÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Ethical Committee (IEO).
